ARC Data Show Uneven Corporate Trip Volumes In Q4

The number of trips processed by business travel agencies and settled through ARC during the fourth quarter fell 2.6 percent year over year. The quarter was jagged, with a year-over-year decline in trip volume in October, a year-over-year uptick in November and another fall in December. Despite unevenness in the ARC figures, major U.S. airlines said business travel demand strengthened after the U.S. presidential election and continued into 2017. Read More »

Judge Tosses Agent Suit Alleging Multicity Fare Conspiracy Among Airlines

A U.S. District judge in California dismissed a federal antitrust lawsuit a group of travel agents against American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. A group of travel agents filed the suit in April, alleging that those airlines, "aided and abetted" by the Airline Tariff Publishing Co., conspired to change fare-combination rules to raise the price of combinable, multicity tickets. Amex Reinvests $719 Million Gain From Concur Sale

American Express reinvested portions of its $719 million pretax gain from selling its 13 percent stake in Concur into a restructuring that involves some headcount reductions, a renewed Delta Air Lines agreement, and marketing and promotional initiatives, Amex executive vice president and chief financial officer Jeffrey Campbell said Wednesday during an earnings conference call with analysts.
