TMCs Balk at $1.25 Fee for Southwest Segments in Galileo

Several notable Travelport clients are refusing to sign on to a program in which sources said Galileo would charge $1.25 for each segment booked on Southwest Airlines, as part of the participation deal the pair announced in May. That program is at the vanguard of the movement to shift global distribution system costs from suppliers to users, and these travel management company executives are putting up a not-so-secret resistance.

Since purchasing Montrose Travel with his sister and wife in 1990--when it was booking $4.5 million in travel--CEO Joe McClure organically grew the southern California agency to 150 employees and expects gross booking volume of around $105 million this year.
