I just read
the news: Jack O'Neill is retiring at the end of the year as President of Carlson Wagonlit Travel North America. CWT's Hakan Ericsson, currently president of the agency's operations in Latin America and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will assume Jack's role.
So I guess this is finally official -- as Jack and I have discussed this off-the-record several times. All I can say is that our industry is losing a wonderful executive who is a true gentleman and icon.
You just gotta check this out. Over the past couple of days I have read a few
Beat articles on which--for as much as I would like to just relax on a beautiful Sunday morning with my Metamucil, or Muesli, or whatever it is us "experienced" guys are supposed to take to keep us feeling spry--I simply must comment.
The Beat's readers named Continental Airlines the 2010 Supplier Of The Year,
Business Travel Media Group announced Wednesday during The Beat
Live. Continental also won in the airline category.
Polled this summer, readers of
The Beat were asked which company in each of six supplier segments they "most admire for its policies, management style and service for business clients." Those who voted for their own company were disqualified.
Other winners included:
• American Express for most admired payment system
• Enterprise for most admired car rental company
• Starwood Hotels & Resorts for most admired hotel company
• Amadeus as most admired technology provider
• Carlson Wagonlit Travel as the most admired travel management company
Awards were presented Wednesday at The Beat
Live in Chicago...
