Almost by reflex, when Bob Crandall utters something for publication, I question its validity and his honesty. This report is far more eloquent and far less nasty than his usual observations. I think he deserves a good audience, particularly on surface transportation. I think that he missed an important point: surface transportation should be convenient to airports.
In several cities surface transportation is well-connected to air travel: ATL, PHL, EWR, BOS(?), STL, ORD, MDW. But usage is very modest. Airport employees make up the bulk of ridership. That's stupid!
