Expedia officials confirmed that Egencia, formerly Expedia Corporate Travel, “currently” would not be impacted by Expedia’s decision to limit the display of American Airlines’ flights on its site. As of yesterday, Expedia “adjusted the way that American Airlines’ fares are displayed” on its sites, according to an official statement. “This has been done in light of both American Airlines’ recent decision to prevent Orbitz from selling its inventory and a possible disruption in Expedia’s ability to sell American Airlines tickets when our contract with American Airlines expires.”
Expedia executives on Thursday discussed strong performance for Egencia, the company's corporate travel division, and conveyed a somewhat bipolar perspective on Google.
I read with much interest yesterday's release of something called the Hotel Negotiability Index by Egencia for 2010. Egencia, the travel management arm of Expedia, says its Index is an indicator of the overall supply landscape and other factors in top cities globally. The data indicates that, at least across North America, it'll continue to be a buyer's market up until at least the last two quarters of next year.
