ARC said it and American Airlines are working to eliminate duplicate bookings. Work began in February, according to ARC, which said it "is now ready to bring additional carriers onboard in the development process in order to expand the service which is hoped will soon be of industry-wide benefit."
UPDATE:
Delta drops $50 per passenger per segment fee to align with Northwest policy.
Asked at The Masters Program this month whether they had been impacted by
airline crackdowns on churn and duplicate bookings, one corporate travel buyer said no and a second said she heard it was a problem but had not been affected. However, Visa Inc. senior business leader for travel services Ann Kloepfer said, "We do have a problem with churn and duplicate bookings."
ASTA is mad at Delta. The association on Wednesday accused the carrier of "forcibly" collecting travel agency funds for "booking violations that were, in some cases, likely caused by technical issues related to Delta's audit program, rather than by agency malfeasance."
Delta Air Lines yesterday began auditing "all GDS user transactions to identify booking policy violations," according to the carrier's Online Agency Service Center. Violators would be charged $3.50 per net passenger segment or a $50 fee, "depending on the nature of the violation."
