Sabre, Travelport Achieve IATA NDC-Certified Status For Ancillary Sales

The International Air Transport Association certified Sabre Travel Network and Travelport as aggregators that have demonstrated the ability to support its New Distribution Capability standard for airline ancillary sales. As such, Travelport and Sabre became the first and second global distribution systems, respectively, to achieve some level of NDC-capable status as aggregators, while Amadeus remains "in progress," according to IATA. AA Asks For Court’s Help As It Negotiates New Sabre Deal

In December 2016, a jury found provisions in Sabre's 2011 global distribution system contract with US Airways violated federal antitrust law. Since then, American Airlines, which merged with the carrier after the lawsuit began, asked Sabre to exclude similar contractual provisions in a new GDS agreement, which would succeed the current deal that expires this year. Regulatory Freeze Raises Questions On DOT Bias Rule Status

A new U.S. Department of Transportation rule that prohibits travel agencies and airlines from biasing flight displays without notice officially takes effect Wednesday. Or, maybe it doesn't.
