FEATURE: GDSs Develop Mechanics For Payment Surcharges

At the request of airline customers, global distribution systems several years ago added technology to accommodate credit card surcharges. Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport said they implemented the functionality for optional services--called "OB fees"--as specified by industry standards developed by the International Air Transport Association and the Airline Tariff Publishing Co. According to the industry standard, OB fees are not refundable.
