Galileo Suspends Opt-In BA Surcharges for U.K. Subscribers

Galileo in the United Kingdom announced the "interim removal of travel agency opt-in fees on British Airways bookings" as the global distribution system firm and the airline continue negotiating. Since BA's agreements with Galileo, Amadeus, Sabre and Worldspan expired last week, the airline no longer enjoys previously negotiated discounts off GDS fees. As a result, GDS companies that had levied fees on travel agency subscribers for British Airways bookings presumably no longer need such subsidie
