Hotels See Rise In Loyalty Memberships, Direct Bookings But Aren't Stealing Much From OTAs

Hotel loyalty member discount rates are taking booking share away from online travel agencies—at least that's what hoteliers would have you believe. In earnings calls for the three months ending June 30, Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International, InterContinental Hotels Group and Hyatt Hotels Corp. talked up the rise in bookings through their direct online and mobile channels that has resulted from special loyalty member discounts for booking direct.
