Eying New Legal Defense, Sabre Says US Airways Is Subject To AA Settlement Deal

Now that US Airways officially has merged with American Airlines, Sabre is looking to deploy a novel legal defense in its federal antitrust entanglement with the airline. The ongoing suit filed by US Airways nearly three years ago in a U.S. district court in New York covers what Sabre counsel called "virtually identical antitrust claims" as those Sabre settled with American Airlines. In Sabre's view, that 2012 settlement precludes some of US Airways claims.
