TECHNOLOGY: Expedia Eases Direct Connections for Indy Hotels

Expedia Inc. today announced it has launched a new interface allowing independent hotels and small- to medium-size chains to automate reservation information exchanges. Expedia's QuickConnect system "represents a revolutionary break from global distribution system and legacy connectivity" by using XML and "an open application programming interface" that suppliers can set up "in less than a month," the company said.
