COMMENT: Blame The Street, Too

In its dismissal of Sam Katz, former head of its Travel Distribution Services unit, Cendant Corp. this week displayed a level of executive accountability that we can only wish were present in national politics. Cendant chairman and CEO Henry Silverman still took flak, and rightly so, over the division's failures--most notably the botched due diligence on the acquisition of a barely online travel company called Ebookers.
