LETTER: Amadeus Writes In On Lufthansa Comments

Amadeus submitted the following letter to add context to its original statement published in an article this week.

Folzowing the recent The Beat article [Lufthansa Group To Pull Some Fare Types From GDSs], in which Lufthansa Group's decision to remove some fares from the GDSs was referenced alongside other industry comments, including a quote from Amadeus, we would like to clarify our position on this topic.

As the article stated, we absolutely believe that airlines should be free to choose the business strategy that works for them. However, at the same time, we do not believe that implementing a price or content differential between channels is ever in the best interest of the traveler.

Travelers are looking for consistency, transparency and choice, which is why we believe indirect distribution remains the most efficient solution for all parties on a global scale. This is why we are actively working to connect and integrate multiple content sources in the Amadeus Travel Platform, be it GDS, NDC or proprietary APIs, to deliver to our travel seller customers all relevant content to be distributed via any channel or device.

Yours sincerely,

Anna Kofoed
