It's always hard to prove a trend with anecdotes, but that's what two news organizations tried during the past couple of weeks, with absurd results for readers. The Oct. 3 issue of The New York Times indicated that companies were "loosening up on expense accounts." This was nine days after a Reuters headline read, "U.S. businesses seek to trim soaring travel costs." At least we know there's no collusion!
